Exterior Surface Restoration

How can a little work now save your organization tons in the long run?

Garbage bins are some of the most overlooked areas of a building’s exterior. Years of harsh weather and neglect lead to the erosion of the limestone cap. Without this cap, water is allowed to build up inside and in with the winter freeze ice forms causing the block walls to crack or even break apart. If this is left unchecked the deterioration will continue until the integrity of the entire structure is compromised. The solution is a lot easier, and definitely a lot less expensive than replacing the entire structure, then you would think. Replacing the damaged block, reinstalling the limestone cap, doing a little tuck-pointing can save the structure from certain demise.

SCOPE OF WORK:
1. Identify materials needed to repair structure.
2. Repair damaged areas of structure.
3. Clean and paint entire structure for a uniform appearance.

CHALLENGES:
1. Removing deteriorated cap and block wall without further damage to remaining structure.
2. Matching new cap and block to existing structure.
3. Entire structure needed to be painted but was in poor condition with mold, mildew, and peeling paint

SOLUTIONS:
1. Workers carefully removed any damaged or loose cap and block, taking care not to damage existing structure.
2. New cap and block are installed replicating the look of the undamaged structure.
3. Structure is tuck-pointed to ensure structural integrity of the garbage bin.
4. A complete prep of the area including; cleaning, scraping, priming to ensure a proper and total adhesion of paint.
5. The entire structure, inside and out, was painted with the appropriate products according to clients color specifications.
